Depop

Product design · 2015

Depop is an online, peer-to-peer social shopping platform where people buy and sell second-hand, vintage, and unique clothing.

Designing across onboarding, wallet, referrals and early brand concepts, sharpening content and hierarchy.

Overview

Freelancing as part of product design team at Depop, I worked across a range of product improvements, including onboarding, wallet, referrals and early brand concepts. Although the projects were different, they all shared a common challenge in helping people understand what to do next and making the experience feel more intuitive.

Opportunity

Rather than solving each problem in isolation, I looked at the journey as a whole. I introduced clearer content, stronger visual hierarchy and more purposeful empty states that encouraged people to explore, list, buy and sell naturally. Small UX improvements were paired with visual refinements that made the app feel more welcoming and unmistakably Depop.

Why

People don't read long instructions, they learn by doing. I designed the new flows in a simple and clear way that helped users feel confident to take action and not drop off.

Result

The projects reinforced a way of thinking that still shapes my work today: the smallest interactions often have the biggest impact on how a product feels.
