tiney's design system gives design and engineering a shared source of truth, so new features can be built quickly and consistently.

tiney illustration library

Simplified the component library and established a shared source of truth in Storybook, using Figma, Claude Code and GitHub to bring design and code closer together.

Overview

As tiney grew, so did the product. Over time, our design system had started to drift between Figma and production, creating unnecessary component variations and making collaboration between design and engineering harder than it needed to be.

Opportunity

I worked closely with the product team to simplify our component library and establish a shared source of truth in Storybook. Alongside refining our Figma components, I used Claude Code, VS Code and GitHub to contribute directly to Storybook, helping bring design and code closer together.

Why

The goal wasn't to build a bigger design system, it was to build one that people could trust and so that more non-engineers could use confidently. Having fewer component variations meant less ambiguity, faster handovers and more confidence that what we designed was what was built and shipped.

Impact

The design system became easier to use and easier to maintain, giving designers and engineers a shared language to build from and making it quicker to deliver new features consistently.
